Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception Team

We have five part-time receptionists who will help you to get the best from the many services we offer.

Administration Team

Our medical secretaries help us communicate with hospitals, other doctors and many other agencies on your behalf. Three part-time administrators handle our accounts, supplies and operational reporting.

Dispensary Team

Our team of dispensers are here to help with all your medication queries.

GP Training

The Practice is approved for training of Doctors in General Practice prior to taking on a general practice in their own right As a training practice we welcome qualified doctors who are at various stages of their training to be based with us in general practice for periods between 4 months and 1 year. Some of these doctors will be heading towards a career in hospital specialities and others to become GP's. Whilst they are with us, they will be closely supervised by Dr Fisher, and Ward. We are also often joined by medical students from Southampton Medical School. They will be in their final three years of their medical study.

Nurses

Our practice nurses perform a full range of general nursing tasks within the practice, along with chronic disease management and reviews, and give advice on all health issues.

Anna is part of the duty team and is trained to triage patients and eConsults with acute needs. Anna is also trained to perform smear tests.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Community Midwives

Provision for expectant mothers is given in our antenatal clinics, and in the home for newly delivered mothers and their babies. The midwife is employed by the PCT.

Community Nurses

The team of district nurses have great and wide-ranging experience in giving nursing care in the community. Call 0118 970 7225 or Communicare on 01256 810683 (evenings and weekends). The district nurses are employed by the Primary Care Trust.

Health Visitors
