Annette is a nurse who specialises in minor illness across all age groups.  She has worked in General practice for over 16 years. 

She can prescribe for:

  • Pain killers
  • Emergency contraception
  • Creams and lotions

  • Coughs, cold and flu
  • Throat infections/tonsillitis
  • Sinus infections
  • Eye infections
  • Earache, discharge, swelling, blocked ears
  • Bladder/kidney infections
  • Diarrhoea and vomiting
  • Unwell child/baby with temperature
  • Constipation
  • Rashes including eczema, skin infections and chickenpox
  • Thrush
  • Back pain/injury
  • Sprains and Strains
  • New neck pain
  • Sudden or worsening asthma or COPD
  • Minor burns and lacerations (not requiring stitching), minor head injuries
  • Hayfever
  • Repeat prescriptions of contraception pill /emergency contraception
  • Prescription for delay of period
  • Warts/verrucae
  • Prescription for threadworms
  • Tetanus immunisation advice

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
